Of course Lord and God are interchangeable, as would be Lord and Jesus, or even Christ. For instance, early writings show the verse (20:28) reading 'church of the Lord', most accepted versions go with aincient Greek manuscripts showing 'church of God'. Pepole start to play fast and loose with the verse and come up with what they want (Lamsa!), even though it doesn't fit. I guess,"In Acts 20:28 it reads (of the Lord) along with the manuscripts: Papyrus 74, C*, D,, 33, 36, 453, 945, 1739, and 1891."īarnes: "The most ancient mss., and the best, read the church of the Lord, and this probably was the genuine text."īut there is a problem with these 'translations', if you will. If Jesus language is such a big deal, why not use it for all of the teaching/preaching? Well INCers, any answers? I think this is a legit question. I remember an INC minister trying to recruit me years ago and it was all the same nonsense, the big 'used car salesman' grin, "and now we turn to the Lamsa because it is translated from the 'original' Aramiac, the language Jesus spoke." At the time I didn't think about it, but later I wondered why is it so important for just that verse. But when the minister gets to 20:28, suddenly 'the language Jesus spoke', the original Aramiac' is just so vital, so we must stop the flow of our lesson and get the Lamsa translation. Hey guys, didn't you ever think about that? Whether it's Lamsa or this new version, why the heck does it suddenly become so important when you get to Acts 20:28 that it just HAS to be translated from the 'original' Aramiac, the language Jesus spoke? When you go through the baptismal lessons or sit through a sermon or bible exposition, they don't insist on an Aramaic translation for any other verse, and they plow through hundreds. Right?' Isn't that why it's so important to have an Aramaic translation for that ONE (and only!) verse.

After all 'Aramaic is the language Jesus spoke. a new Aramaic translation as Lamsa's is somewhat dated, and he was clearly insane.
